I have cancelled the P.O. Box that I was using for ZiLa Games. This is what I posted about this on my Facebook page:
I have a post office box I use for ZiLa Games.
Each year, I need to renew that box. The Post Office website has a section specifically designed for managing and renewing post office boxes.
IT. DOES. NOT. WORK.
Each year, I receive an email reminding me to renew the post office box and giving me a link to the site so I can do that online.
Each year, the site lets me log in and tells me that I have no post office box associated with my account.
Each year, I click on the "Link a Post Office Box to this Account" button.
Each year, it will not let me do that.
Each year, I have to drive down to the Post Office, write them a check to pay for the service, and they assure me that this is an issue that will get corrected: they will link up my account and the post office box.
Each year this fails, evidently.
Each year I call the USPS customer service number and ask why it is I cannot renew this post office box online. And each year I am given a different reason why this is my fault.
- Once I was told that I had entered my information incorrectly into the online forms. This was not true.
- Last year, I was told that I was attempting to renew the post office box too soon. In other words, when I clicked on that link the same day I received the email telling me that I needed to renew my post office box, it was too soon.
- This year, I was told that I was attempting to renew the post office box too late. In other words, when I clicked on that link the same day I received the email telling me that I needed to renew my post office box, it was too late.
I am sick of this.
I do not use this post office box very often, making the annual fee (which keeps getting bigger) seemingly not worth it.
Thus, I will be going to the post office today to return the key to the post office box I have had for several years. I will be putting up a notice on the ZiLa-Games.com website informing everyone of the fact that I will be using my home address as my business address, and so on.
This should not be this stupid, USPS. It just shouldn't.
